The Centípede Monster

The cursed building is infested with curses. Dandara and Alex realize that something inside the building is attracting the creatures to the higher floors. One of the strongest curses Dandara faced in this chapter was the Centipede. A monstrous man-eating centipede.
I, particularly, am terrified of this type of insect. Those hundreds of little paws that look more like claws make them even more terrifying. But that wasn't the main reason I chose this animal as a reference for creating the curse. I believe the idea came from a scene in the movie Jujutsu Kaisen 0. The one where Suguru Geto fights against Yuta Okkotsu. I think I kept those centipedes in my mind and decided to adapt them for my story.
Drawing a centipede seems simple, but it gave me a lot of work. What made the drawing more difficult was the perspective due to its length and repetition of its body segments. That's when I had the brilliant idea of photographing a centipede. This centipede-shaped “tripod” I bought online finally did something.
I adapted the drawing through a sketch. Then came another tricky part. What would the monster's face look like? I tried several times, not even with references I could get a result that I liked.
I researched about insect monsters for a long time, when the scene of a person being swallowed by an insect monster came to mind. It was in a movie that I saw this scene, of that, I was sure. But I didn't give up and racked my brain. Then, the full scene came. It was agent K being swallowed by the giant cockroach alien in the movie MIB - Men in Black. Good! I looked for the scene on Youtube and got the reference that satisfied my anguish. The design was pretty similar.
I thought I was going to draw hot women and hot men but look at me drawing a monster centipede. But it was worth it because that's how I illustrated my story.
The first color I chose when coloring was red to look like Suguru Geto's, but that annoyed me because I had already done a curse like this, devil with goat legs, in bright red (it turned out beautiful). Then my mother, when she saw the centipede in red, complained for the same reason.
So, I chose another color that I love, violet and purple, but for the base color I chose a brown which is the animal's natural color. It took me a while because I made too many layers for all the segments and the centipede's paws. Which I ended up splitting into many layers.
I really liked the result. One more creature for my collection. Welcome, Monster Centipede. But I must warn it that it will have to deal with a very angry sorceress.
Now look what a coincidence. In the same week that I was making this drawing, I found this centipede corpse in my backyard. Did a mini Dandara exterminate it?
Centipede Monster is part of the Fanfic of Jujutsu Kaisen that I'm writing. It is in chapter 3 and is one of the monsters faced by the protagonist and her helper.
If you haven't read the chapter yet, you can find it at the blog link. Take a look. www.deliriosdelorien.blogspot.com
